Baota Mountain ±800 kV Converter Station
The Shaanbei–Anhui ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current transmission project—commonly referred to as “Shaanxi Power Entering Anhui”—is a key project under the national “14th Five-Year Plan” for power development. The project originates at the Baotashan Converter Station in Yan’an City, Shaanxi Province, and terminates at the Hezhou Converter Station in Hefei City, Anhui Province, traversing Shaanxi, Henan, and Anhui provinces. With a total line length of 1,070 kilometers, the project boasts a total investment exceeding RMB 80 billion. Its supporting power sources comprise 4 million kW of coal-fired capacity, 11 million kW of wind and solar renewable energy, and a 2.2 million kW energy storage system. This project is designated as Anhui Province’s “No. 1 Project” for ensuring energy and electricity supply during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and it represents the first UHV DC transmission corridor in the province capable of fully accommodating a high share of renewable energy. Upon commissioning, it will deliver over 36 billion kWh of electricity annually.
